Who’s the best dog?
We’ve been finding out in a series of dog shows across Dublin over the past few weeks and months. But, we’re not done yet. The Pet Parlour, in association with Dublin City Council, could be headed your way soon. If you’re the kind of person who watches Crufts and thinks: ‘I could do that’, this will be right up your street. If Crufts isn’t your thing but you have a loveable Labrador, a beautiful Boxer or a Poodle with oodles of personality, come and say hi. Fill in your details, join in the parade and let your dog have its big moment.
Entry is free and you don’t have to have any competition experience, this is very much about having fun and celebrating our pets.
This is the third year we have been running the dog shows in association with Dublin City Council and we have met some great characters along the way, dogs and owners. The response and interest in the shows has been huge. It’s great to see so many people coming along with their pets, but also the people who just come along to watch the parade and have a bit of fun. The shows have been getting bigger and bigger since we started, and we are in more venues than we ever expected to be when this all got started. And we are also partnering with different City Council areas to bring the shows to more destinations across the city. New destinations for 2019 include Ballyfermot and Kimmage, Crumlin and we are even participating in the Pride festivities next week (Sunday 23rd June in The Cabbage Patch off Clanbrassil street)
Our first show back in 2017 had about 20 dogs entered, now it’s in the hundreds for our bigger shows. Competition is fierce!
Our judges look for dogs with a bit of character, a quirky personality and pleasant demeanour. Has your dog got what it takes to win the crowd over? We want to know what makes your dog unique, tell us where they’ve come from, what their favourite games are and all the things that make them special.
Big, small, young and old, all dogs are in with a chance to take a prize, with 11 different categories to choose from. We have fantastic hampers and all placers will have their photo taken on our Pet Parlour Winners Podium.
